ABOUT ME

It's a long story - that's because I'm kind of old.  Let's hit the highlights.

Great parents! Great husband! Great kids!

In my long and varied work career, I have been a school librarian, a reading teacher, a Home Economics teacher, a caterer, a make-up salesperson, an antique China picker, a backhoe and bulldozer operator, waitress, cleaning lady, shop manager, IT director, and even hoed sugar beets!

So who is to say I can't be a writer, too?  On the same day that I quit my long-time job as a librarian, I received a call asking me to submit some articles and fiction for a new on-line app-based magazine called Lilybell. The editor, Sara Hilton has a long career in magazine editing, and she hired my multi-talented daughter, Betsy King of Midwinter Design, as the magazine design director.  Betsy told her, "You should have my mom write for you!"

I am sure Sara thought, "Great, and let's have your grandma design our webpage!" But Sara was gracious, looked over my submissions, and to my great surprise, I am now a regular contributor.

My first novel, Nitpicky Corners: The Doppelgangers, was finished last spring and I am currently searching for a publisher (a nearly impossible and daunting task), but I am encouraged by the positive feedback I am receiving from my beta readers and by contest wins for smaller works.

Plus, my family won't let me give up!
